LA VIÑA DE COLÉN
100% Monastrell
This wine has been made with Monastrell grapes planted on the “La Viña de Colén” plot, a vineyard that is over 50 years old, planted on a loamy foot in sandy soil.
VINIFICATION: Harvest in 15 kg plastic boxes. 50% goes directly into small concrete tanks without being destemmed or crushed. The remaining 50% is destemmed without being crushed. Fermented with autochthonous yeasts in concrete tanks without adding sulfur at room temperature with their skins and part of the stalk. Once the fermentation is over, it is lightly pressed and remains for 5 months in clay jars and glass demijohns until it is bottled directly without clarifying, without filtering and without the addition of sulfur.
TASTING NOTES: Picota cherry color, with a medium layer and violet reflections, which denote its youth. Black fruits on the nose such as blackberries and cilia with certain balsamic nuances and aromatic herbs, such as sage, lavender, rosemary, thyme. Silky on the palate, with volume, but at the same time being fresh and fruity, with a direct and vertical tannin. The wine is long and tense and with the characteristic texture of its aging in clay. It has a very good acidity which allows it to show the juiciest and freshest expression of Monastrell in southeastern Spain.
